Trial Lesson for Absolute Beginners

This is a trial class for anyone completely new to Mandarin Chinese—or unsure where to start. I can teach entirely in English (or Japanese), so you can relax and focus on the basics.

What we’ll do

  • Begin gently with core pronunciation—your choice of Zhuyin (Bopomofo) or Hanyu Pinyin.

  • Set complex grammar aside for now and learn simple greetings and self-introductions (e.g., “hello,” “thank you”).

  • Explore how these phrases sound and what feelings or social nuances they carry, with brief cultural context—so the expressions make sense, not just noise.

This lesson is ideal if you:

  • Are curious about Chinese but feel a bit nervous.

  • Want to learn a few polite phrases before traveling to Taiwan.

  • Find a full, formal course daunting and prefer a soft start.

Let’s ease into the sound world of Mandarin first. After the session, I hope you’ll feel clearer about next steps—and maybe even keen to keep going.
