Nicolas Ventura combines academic expertise with the vibrant energy of Rio de Janeiro’s professional music scene. With a Degree in Music Education (UNIRIO) and technical specialisation from CIGAM, he has 13 years of musical experience, with the last 8 years dedicated to teaching and performing.

 

Recognition & Performance: His musicality was recognised by Nelson Faria, being selected as a standout feature on the 'New Talents' showcase of the prestigious Café Lá Em Casa channel. As a sideman, he has had the honour of accompanying the legendary Brazilian drummer Wilson Meirelles. In the digital world, he has over 38,000 streams with his band Bug Bite and leads the sinajazz project. His career includes performances at Rio's most iconic landmarks, such as the Copacabana Palace, the Fairmont Hotel, and the historic Beco das Garrafas. Currently, he maintains three active musical residencies.

Artistic Identity: He developed his unique musical identity through lessons with legends such as Alfredo Cardim, Jeff Gardner, and Paula Faour.

 

Teaching Methodology: Nicolas offers a personalised approach focused on musical autonomy and a sophisticated sound:

 

•Improvisation & Harmony: Developing creative vocabulary and fluency on the piano (Refined through studies with Claudio Daulsberg and Cliff Korman).

•Voice & Self-Accompaniment: Specific techniques for those who want to play and sing with confidence and independence (Developed with Clara Sandroni and Ricardo Goes).

•Rhythmic Versatility: From Jazz and Bossa Nova to diverse Brazilian rhythms, integrating ear training and advanced harmony.

•Bilingual: Lessons available in English or Portuguese.

My pedagogical approach is focused on professional results and artistic autonomy. I develop a personalized roadmap that blends the student's interests with the technical rigor required for a sophisticated sound.


What sets my methodology apart:

Technical Objectivity: I use modern music perception and ear training tools to accelerate learning, allowing students to master their repertoire with theoretical understanding rather than just motor repetition.
Creation & Improvisation: I encourage composition and arranging as the pillars of musical evolution. I believe true mastery comes from the ability to create on the instrument.
Musical Independence: My goal is to provide students with the tools to play by ear, harmonize melodies, and develop their own unique voice on the piano.
Professional Online Setup: To ensure an immersive learning experience, I use a high-definition multi-camera setup. This allows students to see my hands from different angles simultaneously (overhead and side views), making it easy to follow fingerings, posture, and technical nuances as if we were in the same room.
Whether you are a beginner looking for a solid foundation or an advanced musician seeking to refine your improvisation and vocal accompaniment technique, my lessons are designed to elevate your musical standards.
