Hello! I'm Lauren (or Ren) from Los Angeles! I taught English for 6 years in Seoul, Kanazawa, and Nagoya. I love teaching English conversational skills to beginners, intermediate students and beyond!

My focus is in building English confidence to build your smooth communication skills. 

I graduated with a BA in English Literature with a magna cum laude award. English is both something I love and something I study from different perspectives. There are so many avenues in life that open when you speak English; it's an advantage I want to help you with!

For example, I was on NHK twice! I volunteered to help at Hyakumangoku, Kanazawa's local biggest festival. I was assigned to be in the parade, and got to chat with the interviewer & walk with some of my friends later on!

I've also been in the local newspaper after doing a Misogi purification ritual at a local shrine. The worst part of the ceremony wasn't the almost freezing water temperature. It was getting out afterwards!

Because of my experiences, I am looking to teach students English for daily conversation, travel, and for personal self-development. 

As such, my lessons focus on: 

  • daily conversations
  • helpful travel words & phrases
  • discussing experiences / activities
  • asking or giving directions
  • talking about your personal hobbies, likes, thoughts & feelings
