“My favorite idol is speaking on stage, and all of the Korean fans understood what they were saying immediately. But I can’t understand what they are saying, and it’s so frustrating...”
“When I ordered samgyeopsal, the staff said, ‘고기는 3인분부터...’ but I couldn’t catch what they said afterward.”
“At the fan signing event, my favorite idol spoke to me, but I didn’t understand Korean and could only smile. back at them”
In fact, 77% of Korean learners started learning the language because of K-pop or K-dramas.
However, when it comes to actually speaking, many people hit a major wall.
Even if self-study helps with reading and listening to some extent, actually trying to speak the language often leaves them lacking confidence or struggling to find the right words...
Surveys show that over half of Korean learners feel speaking ability is their biggest challenge.
→ To solve this problem, practice focused on speaking in real-life scenarios are a must.
In my own experience, I continued to take Japanese lessons over the phone for five years while learning the language.
Thanks to this experience, I was able to converse smoothly with locals during my trip to Japan, and even had people tell me, “I thought you were Japanese.”
Through this experience, I realized that if you have just these two of the following things:
1) A learning environment that suits you
2) Consistent practice through speaking
Then anyone can naturally become fluent.
In my lessons, I will fully and thoroughly assist you to “speak Korean more naturally” through the following methods:
Leveraging my customer service experience at hospitals,
I provide gentle and thorough lessons where anyone can feel comfortable speaking.
Q1. Can absolute beginners really be able to learn to speak Korean?
A. Yes, absolutely. We will start with basic expressions and pronunciation commonly used in daily life.
You’ll have the chance to practice repeatedly in enjoyable and practical situations like ordering at cafes or at a fan meetings.
After each lesson, I will provide feedback notes so you can steadily improve.
Q2. Is it okay to ask questions in Japanese during lessons?
A. Yes, of course you can. I can also converse in Japanese,
so please feel free to ask any questions in Japanese if you don’t understand.
Even absolute beginners can take lessons with me with ease.
Q3. I’m worried about being able to continue learning.
A. I will set “small and achievable goals” each time and provide review materials to help you progress comfortably.
You’ll get practice assignments like actually pronouncing K-pop lyrics or K-drama lines aloud, making learning more enjoyable and sustainable.
I’d be rejoiced to hear more about your
stories on “why you decided to learn Korean” or
“what you are interested about South Korea!”
I’ve prepared a brief 2-minute mini-questionnaire
in advance, so please feel free to give it
a try and casually answer them ☺️
