Hello! My name is Motoharu, and I’m a Japanese language tutor.
I was born and raised in Japan and currently live in the UK. I speak both Japanese and English.
I teach Japanese to students of all ages—from children to adults—and at all proficiency levels.
After growing up in Japan, I graduated from university and worked in the UK as a life science researcher for 14 years. During that time, I supervised many university students and fellow researchers. This experience has trained me to explain complex or specialized topics in a clear, logical, and easy-to-understand way.
I also work as a writer and editor for game-related media, and I create my own gaming videos on YouTube. I have deep knowledge of games, anime, and Japanese pop culture, so I can also teach Japanese related to these interests in a fun and engaging manner.
In my lessons, I offer conversational practice, grammar, daily expressions, business Japanese, proper keigo and polite language, as well as terminology in scientific and medical fields. If you need support preparing a presentation in Japanese, I can help with that too. I tailor each lesson to your goals and provide careful, easy-to-follow guidance.
As a father of three, I have years of experience giving bilingual education to my own children. I am also comfortable teaching younger learners, making lessons enjoyable using games, anime, and other interests.
