Don't be afraid of a Continuous Tense

Many learners find English's 13 tenses confusing. This Lesson Pack will cover continuous tenses with media and speaking to get you using them like a natural.

Kursinhalt
This is part of my tense series where we will explore a group of 3 tenses (past, present and future) alongside real world uses, speaking and writing exercises, and media to demonstrate that English tenses are not as complicated as they may seem. Many learners find learning English tenses overwhelming or struggle to see different tenses as natural in their speaking. However, being confident with Continuous tenses and breaking out of the Simple tenses will help any learner sound native and fluent. These classes will avoid memorising tenses or taking excessive notes and will focus on using and understanding them.
Lesson 1- We will recap Present and Past Simple before looking at Present Continuous. We will look at some English vocabulary for daily routines and explore how Present Continuous has a subtly different meaning- describing an ongoing state (less complicated than it sounds!).
Lesson 2- We will recap Present Continuous and Past Simple, before moving on to the lesson on Past Continuous. We will look at some vocabualry surrounding films and plotlines, and use our knowledge of the Murder Mystery to introduce natural ways of using Past Continuous. We will pratice with guided roleplaying and speaking to show natural uses of this tense.
Lesson 3- We will recap Present Continuous and Future Simple. Then we will recap vocabulary on travel and holidays. I will guide us through the concept of Future Continuous, and we will practice natural use of it by describing our dream holidays.
Lesson 4- We will recap all three tenses and explore when we should or shouldn't use them compared to the simple tenses. We will have a quiz and a creative writing exercise where all tenses are used.
Since these lessons include more advanced tenses, they do require more vocabulary and some grammar including the Simple tenses and the conjugations of 'to be'. But do not worry! Tenses are always stressful and an adjustment and you do not have to be an expert or even familiar with these tenses to take on these classes. I will provide an ability assessment beforehand, and recommend whether this class is for you. If it is not, do not worry! I will be producing an entry level tense class in future, and it is better to be working with material you are confident with!

Cancellation of pack lessons
• 'Unstarted' lesson packs(1) can be cancelled any time. Used Points will be completely refunded. If a 'started' lesson pack(2) is cancelled, you will be refunded 50% of the price of the remaining lessons provided that the lessons are unrequested, unconfirmed or not within 24 hours of their scheduled start times.
(1) A lesson pack for which none of the requests have been confirmed by the tutor.
(2) A lesson pack with at least one confirmed request. (By confirming the date and time for the first lesson in the pack the tutor confirms the pack as a whole and coupons are automatically issued)

Cancelling individual requests in a pack
• If you wish to cancel a single lesson that belongs to a pack but not the whole pack, you can do so via the request page. In this case, the coupon used to book the lesson will either be refunded or collected, based on the tutors single-lesson cancellation policy. Please note that any 50% partial refunds in the tutors single-lesson cancellation policy do not apply to lesson packs and the tutor may choose to either refund or collect the coupon in those cases.
