★Theme-based Japanese Skills UP (December)
① Improve Your Speaking Skills with Japanese Dramas & Movies!
The goal is to learn how to summarize briefly and describe memorable scenes clearly.
- Summarize the drama/movie you recently watched
- Describe a memorable scene from a drama or movie you’ve seen before
- Do you watch with subtitles or without? Explain your reasons
- Think about the benefits of watching dramas on streaming services
- Reading practice
(Some lessons may be split into two 30-minute sessions)
② Aim to Be a Better Speaker
This lesson is recommended for learners who know many grammar patterns but can’t use them smoothly in conversation.
We will practice using grammar and expressions in real speaking situations.
Grammar / expressions example:
～といえば / ～ことなく / ～たびに / ～あっての / ～の甲斐 / ～ときたら
Vocabulary: 口下手 (poor speaker), 場数を踏む (gain experience)
- Are you good at talking with people? (first meetings, in front of many people, etc.)
- Talk about someone memorable (e.g., an old boss or coworker)
③ The Light and Dark Sides of “Oshikatsu”
Using the theme of “oshikatsu,” we learn expressions often used in social issues and practice expressing opinions at length.
Examples: 散財する (spend too much) / 貢ぐ (devote money to) / 拍車をかける (accelerate) / 闇バイト (illegal part-time jobs)
- What problems do you think exist in young people’s free “oshikatsu”?
- Practice expressing your ideas using the new vocabulary
- Finally, enjoy a discussion on topics such as: “Is youth necessary for idols?”
★Theme-based Japanese Skills UP (November)
①Giving Directions
Guide friends using maps and plan travel tours.
・Learn to express directions concisely: "Go straight, turn at the second corner..."
②Efficiency-focused or Cost-conscious (Lifestyle)
Practice expressing your thoughts in Japanese about everyday life choices.
Tips for cutting expenses・When do you disagree with friends?
③Japanese Music
Learn music-related vocabulary and expressions. Do you like singing? What kind of music is popular? Challenge yourself with kanji puzzles for band/artist names.
※Most lessons are designed to be completed in one session, but depending on progress, they may take two sessions.
About the Lesson
I will type what you say and correct any mistakes.
Depending on the lesson topic, we may also practice listening comprehension.
After the lesson, I will create class notes focusing only on the mistakes made.
