This lesson is for learners who are interested in Japanese Buddhism and want to explore it through thoughtful English discussion.

I have a deep personal interest in Japanese Zen, and my understanding of Japan and Buddhism was strongly shaped by a professor I had in college who was from Japan. His teaching opened my world in a meaningful way and helped deepen my respect for Japanese thought, culture, and spiritual tradition.

In this class, we can discuss the history of Japanese Buddhism, major schools and traditions, important ideas, key figures, and the influence of Buddhism on Japanese culture and daily life. This lesson is also a good way to build vocabulary, speaking confidence, and the ability to discuss cultural, historical, and philosophical topics in English.

The lesson can be adapted to your level and interests, so it can be more conversational, more structured, or focused on specific areas of Japanese Buddhism that you would like to explore.
