Reading & Discussing World News – Great for Intermediate Learners and Up
This lesson is ideal for learners who want to improve their reading, vocabulary, and speaking skills while staying informed about current global events. We’ll read and discuss a newspaper article or similar text, something topical, thought-provoking, and relevant to real life.
What We’ll Do
Each session includes:
- Reading a short article or news summary together
- Identifying key vocabulary and expressions
- Discussing the topic in a relaxed, open way
- Sharing opinions, asking questions, and exploring different viewpoints
- Practising pronunciation and natural speaking rhythm
Topics may include international news, science, culture, travel, education, or social issues, always chosen to suit your interests and level.

How I Teach
I guide you through the article step by step, explaining new words and phrases as we go. I encourage open discussion, gentle correction, and lots of speaking practice. You don’t need to know everything, just be curious and willing to try. I’ll support you with sentence starters, questions, and prompts to keep the conversation flowing.
