There are many beautiful beaded items on the continent of Africa. In this lesson we will look at waistbeads worn by African woman. This is an ancient skill that is taught by generations of women.
Each waistbead is different to another because each woman designs it according to her personality and situation. I have been making waistbeads for many years for different women and for many different reasons.
This lesson pack will include:
Information about waistbeads-
-Why we wear them
-Why they are only for women
-Reasons for different waistbeads
-When to get new waistbeads
Design-
-colours, length and what we use for waistbeads
Making-
-We will make our beads during class
-How to channel your energy to make your waistbeads
-Blessing and channelling your waistbeads
VERY IMPORTANT:
This lesson is only open to women(from young ladies to older ladies). Waistbeads are a traditional artform only for women and is an sacred art for women.
You will need to have specific material for this lesson to make waistbeads. These can be purchased in craft shops or African shops. Once our lesson is confirmed, you will be sent a list to prepare for your lesson. You are more than welcome to add other things to your waistbeads, but be sure to check with me if it'll be okay(since some things may scratch you or are not suited for waistbeads).
