Tired of talking about the same things and looking to have some fun?

Descrizioni

In this class, we’ll practice speaking and thinking in English through a fun and engaging format: “Would You Rather?” questions. These are imaginative, sometimes silly, sometimes serious dilemmas that encourage creativity, deep thinking, and lively discussion.

What You’ll Do in This Lesson:

  • Choose from a wide variety of “Would You Rather?” prompts: funny, weird, moral, philosophical, or even futuristic.

  • Discuss your choice, explain why you chose one option over another, and respond to follow-up questions.

  • Practice conversational skills: giving reasons, agreeing/disagreeing respectfully, asking clarifying questions, and building on ideas.

  • Receive feedback on your vocabulary, grammar, and fluency as we go.

  • At the end, we can also reflect on what the exercise reveals: what your choices say about you, and how to use similar strategies for thinking or speaking more freely in real life.

Who This Lesson Is For:

  • Students who want to improve their speaking fluency in a relaxed, playful way.

  • Intermediate to advanced learners who are comfortable exploring abstract or open-ended topics.

  • Anyone who wants to build confidence in expressing opinions, justifying their reasoning, and speaking at length.

  • Students looking for a creative conversation class rather than a rigid grammar-lesson.

What You’ll Get:

  • A safe, supportive environment to speak freely.

  • Encouragement to think critically and articulate your thoughts the best you can.

  • Corrective feedback on vocabulary, grammar, and more natural expression (optional).

  • Conversation practice that mimics real-life thinking and decision-making — great for social English, interviews, or just fun discussion.

Why This Format Works Well:

  • “Would You Rather?” prompts are a good way to engage in conversation because they're both easy to understand and easy to discuss without there really being a minimum or a maximum for how much you talk or for complexity.

  • They also keep us away from cliches to classroom conversation (small talk)  and encourage creative thinking.

  • It helps build confidence: even if you’re not sure what to say at first, the structured yet flexible nature of the questions gives you an easy starting point.

Materials / Preparation:

  • I will prepare a curated list of “Would You Rather?” questions tailored to your level and interests.

  • No homework is required, but if you like, I can send you a list of prompts to think about after the lesson.

  • Feel free to bring your own “Would You Rather?” questions, too.
