Common Nouns and Proper Nouns (6 to 10 years old)
Using common and proper nouns in sentences.
Description
This lesson introduces students to the two main types of nouns: common nouns and proper nouns. Students learn that common nouns refer to general names of people, places, things, or ideas (e.g., city, teacher, dog), while proper nouns refer to specific names and are always capitalized (e.g., Manila, Mr. Cruz, Rover).
Through engaging activities such as sorting words, identifying nouns in sentences, and capitalization exercises, students practice distinguishing between the two types. By the end of the lesson, learners are expected to accurately identify, classify, and use common and proper nouns in writing and conversation.
