Lesson Title: IELTS Introduction & Needs Analysis
Class: 1:1
Duration: 35 minutes
Target Students: Students at B1–C1 levels who are new to the IELTS exam (Academic and General Training formats).
Language Focus: Past, Present and Future tenses
Lesson Overview:
Starting with a structured Needs Analysis, this session helps establish your target score, test timeline, and specific priorities. You will receive a clear breakdown of the four core exam components (Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking) and learn the essential differences between the Academic and General Training paths. The lesson also includes a diagnostic Speaking Part 1 simulation. You will be introduced to the PPF (Past, Present, Future) strategy to help you expand your answers naturally, followed by constructive feedback on your fluency and lexical resource to set up a personalised study plan for future classes if requested.
This lesson comprises three main parts:
First, you will be provided with an interactive Needs Analysis, which focuses on students preparing to take the IELTS exam (Academic or General Training). Then I will provide a comprehensive overview/orientation of the IELTS exam and answer any questions.
Next, you will be presented with an overview of the speaking test and then a more in-depth look at Speaking Part 1. At this stage, I will introduce the PPF strategy (Past, Present, Future) for Speaking Part 1— to help you expand answers naturally. I will then ask several questions found in Speaking Part 1, and you will practise answering them using the PPF model.
Finally, you will have the opportunity to practise answering typical Speaking Part 1 questions using the PPF strategy.
