Bonus Functional Language Lesson: Telling Time
In this relaxed and easy-to-follow lesson, you’ll learn how to tell time in English—a practical skill you’ll use often in conversations with native speakers. We’ll do listening exercises that let you compare American and British accents and practice your own pronunciation. You’ll also explore how telling time works differently in the US and UK, including the common use of the 12-hour clock and some older expressions that you might still hear from older speakers. The lesson finishes with a fun, interactive activity where you can ask about train schedules, giving you the chance to practice asking for the time in a real-life situation. By the end, you’ll improve your listening skills, gain confidence in speaking, and feel more comfortable pronouncing larger numbers.
In this lesson, you can improve:
- your listening comprehension
- your communication skills
- your pronunciation of large numbers
Other information:
- This is an A1 or Beginner level course.
- This is an optional lesson in a series but can be taken by any level.
- Completing A1 Unit 4 Lesson Set 1 is highly recommended for this course but not necessary.
- Familiarity with English numbers is important.
