I took a photo of clouds late last month and it made me think about English expressions with the word cloud; here are three:

“Every cloud has a silver lining”.
This expression means there is something good to be found in every bad situation.

Celebrated Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell wrote a song called “Both Sides Now” which features clouds in the first verses and changing chorus.
Rows and flows of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere
I've looked at clouds that way
But now they only block the sun
They rain and they snow on everyone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way
I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down and still somehow
It's cloud illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds at all
Do you like to look at clouds? Do they make you think of bad weather? Book a lesson with me and we can have a chat. You can tell me your opinion of clouds, sunny weather and rain, and/or ask me my opinion.
