Photo: Snow piled high on a car on my street
Once again I’m sipping on tea and looking out my window. It’s a bit hard to see because there is a thin layer of ice covering the window - it is frosted over. The big storm that arrived on Monday has passed now, but it was a doozy (something outstanding or unique) that dumped about 60cm of snow on Toronto in just 24 hours. In fact, it was the biggest single-day snowstorm in Toronto’s history.
Outside, there are huge snowbanks everywhere - piles of snow that have been blown by the wind or pushed by snowplows. Some of them are as tall as me! I’ve also seen some huge icicles hanging from roofs and balconies, and some of the biggest ones are as tall as me, too!
Many cars are buried in snow, and of course, the public transportation system has been severely affected. It will take several days for Toronto residents to dig out after this much snowfall, and all day we can hear snowplows and snowblowers working hard to clean up the streets and sidewalks.
As inconvenient as it is, there is also something exciting about seeing this much snow.
