English as a Lingua Franca-a World Language.

Ms Cathy

A 'lingua franca' is a language adopted as a common language between speakers who don’t speak the same language.

English is a lingua franca in many international businesses. It is not the only lingua franca in the workd, but it is a very popular one.

Movies, websites on the internet and computer coding or instructions are often created in the English language. Businesses and international organisations frequently use English as their functional language across international boundaries.

There are variants of the English language in different parts of the globe which may affect the vocabulary used, pronunciation, spelling and idioms. If you are interested in these variants, I can expand on the details in classes.

Embrace this world language! Book a lesson!
