Everything has a First time: Writing about my lesson

Shiori.S

Hello everyone, I'm Shiori, a Japanese teacher!
みなさんこんにちは、シオリです!

Everything has a first time, right?
This time, I'd like to look back on the very first lesson I ever taught.
By the way, this is also my first column!
Before I dive into my lesson story, let me briefly introduce myself.

I was born and raised in Japan. I studied Japanese and English education at university.
I've always been fascinated by languages, and I started learning English first.
Now, I have over 15 years of experience studying it.
6 years ago, I began learning Korean because I thought it would be useful to communicate with neighboring country.
I started teaching Japanese about 2 years ago, and during these 2 years, I've met many wonderful Japanese learners.

The first lesson can be so nerve-wracking, isnt't it?
As a language learner myself, I completely understand the excitement and nervousness of speaking with native speaker for the first time.

Now, let me tell you about my very first lesson as a teacher.
At that time, I had no idea what I do, but I thought, "Just give it a try!"
When my first lesson was booked, I was filled with both excitment and nerves.
However, once the lesson started, I realized I couldn't explain things clearly and couldn't manage the lesson smoothly.
I ran into several challenges.

My first lesson ended in a bit of mess, and I felt sorry for my student.
When I apologized, my student said,
"There's a first time for everything, so don't worry about it"

Those words game me back confidence I almost lost, and since then, I've been working hard every day to make my lesson even better.

So, let's keep improving step by step everyone!
がんばりましょう〜!

If you are interested in taking a lesson, feel free to reach out!
I'm also offering First-Time coupon at the moment.

Thank you so much for reading.
See you next time!
