Small Plans, Big Memories: A Summer To-Do List

Weekly Topic: For a Summer to Remember…! Do you have your own "To Do List"?

Teacher Vera

There's something magical about summer.
The days feel longer, the weather is warmer, and suddenly—even ordinary moments can turn into lasting memories.

Whether you're heading to the beach, staying in the city, or just enjoying a slower pace at home, having a little "summer to-do list" can turn a good summer into a great one.

As an English tutor (and a bit of a dreamer), I always try to make my summers a mix of fun, learning, and something new. It doesn't have to be a huge plan—just a few ideas to keep things exciting and meaningful.

My Summer To-Do List (So Far!)

Here are a few things I've added to my list this year:

Try something I've never done before - Even something small, like a new food or a local event.
Spend more time in nature - A walk by the river, a picnic in the park, or even just reading outside.
Learn something new (but fun!) - For me, that means picking up a new book, practicing a language, or brushing up on a skill I've left behind.
Slow down and enjoy the little things - Cold drinks. Warm evenings. Good conversations.
Create something - Whether it's a travel journal, a photo album, or a drawing, I love ending the season with a little "souvenir" of my time.

How Can You Use English This Summer?

If you're learning English, summer is a great time to make progress—without pressure. Here are a few summer-inspired ways to keep practicing:
  • Start a mini summer journal in English - Write a few sentences every few days about what you're doing or feeling.
  • Listen to English songs or podcasts during walks or while relaxing
  • Join short conversation lessons online - Even just 30 minutes a week helps keep your skills sharp!
  • Read short English articles or books about travel, hobbies, or summer topics
And of course, talking about your summer plans in English is a fun way to grow your vocabulary and fluency naturally.

Make This Summer Count—In Any Language

You don't need a passport or a big vacation to make this summer special. All you need is a little curiosity, a sense of fun, and maybe... a to-do list full of small, memorable goals.

So—what's on your list this summer?
Learning something new? Going somewhere exciting?
Or just enjoying a slower pace?

Whatever it is, I hope it's a summer you'll remember for all the right reasons.

And if English practice is part of your plan, I'd love to help you enjoy the process.
