What Do I Do After I Read a News Article?

Suja

Often once the reading of a book or passage or an article is complete, it is normal to simply move on to something else.

To make English learning more effective, it is useful to consolidate crucial points and connect the information to something which you might already know.

This could deepen your understanding of texts and develop your ability to be critical of content.

Consider these when you read an article next time:

  • Reflect on what you have read
  • Check vocabulary or phrases you do not understand
  • Write a summary in your own words, attempting to paraphrase rather than lift or copy from the passage
  • Formulate your opinion or opinions on the article
  • Critique the article and journal this

Finally, discuss your thoughts with someone else.

All these skills will be helpful to you in daily life. The more you practice, the better you become.
