Hello! My name is Sidney, and I’m a language teacher from Switzerland.

I have more than ten years of teaching experience in Switzerland and Japan, where I lived for twelve years. Over the years, I have taught English, French and Japanese to children, teenagers and adults in a variety of settings, from individual lessons and small groups to professional language training.

I am a native French speaker, proficient in English, and speak Japanese at an advanced level. I hold a Cambridge CELTA (Pass A), Cambridge C2 Proficiency, JLPT N1, BJT J1 and Kanji Kentei Level 2.
My teaching style

I believe language lessons should be adapted to the person learning the language—not the other way around.
Before we begin, we can discuss your level, interests and objectives. Depending on what you want to achieve, our lessons can focus on conversation, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, professional communication or exam preparation.

I particularly enjoy helping students become more confident using the language they already know. Making mistakes is a natural part of learning, so I aim to create a relaxed atmosphere where you can speak freely, experiment with the language and ask as many questions as you like.

As someone who has spent many years learning foreign languages myself, I also understand what it feels like to be on the other side of the lesson!

English lessons
Whether you want to improve your conversation skills, speak more naturally and confidently, work on pronunciation and grammar, or use English professionally, I can adapt our lessons to your needs. I can also explain difficult points in Japanese or French when useful.

French lessons
As a native French speaker from the French-speaking part of Switzerland, I can help you develop practical, natural French for conversation, travel, work or everyday life. Lessons are available from beginner to advanced level, and explanations can be given in English or Japanese.

Japanese lessons
Having lived in Japan for twelve years and worked professionally in Japanese, I also offer Japanese lessons. I can help with conversation, grammar, reading and kanji, including preparation for the JLPT. Because I learned Japanese as a foreign language myself, I can often explain points from a learner’s perspective that native speakers may take for granted.

Most importantly, your lesson should be your lesson. We can adjust the content, pace and amount of correction according to what works best for you.
