Hello there! My name's Ashhari, but you can also call me Ash. I live in Sri Lanka, but I am a native English speaker with a clear and pleasant (as I'm told!) British accent.

I also speak German, Turkish and Sinhala quite fluently as second languages, whilst my French suffices for day-to-day events. Here at Cafetalk, I can teach you English at any level and for any purpose, and German at a Beginner or early Intermediate level (A1, A2 and B1)! I teach adults and older teenagers (16 years and above). 

I am a 'slow and steady' teacher with a passion for sharing my knowledge and skills. I believe in my students being free to make mistakes (and learn from them!), try new things and learn at a comfortable pace using simple methods. It's very important to me that you FEEL your knowledge growing and skills improving as you work with me.

Since I formally studied German and French, and taught myself Turkish, I believe my ability to think like a language student makes it easier for me to explain and teach languages effectively too. (I have a hard time of staying in touch with languages I have next to no opportunity to use where I live, so the frustrations of a language student run high in me too constantly! :-D :-D)

Having mingled and worked with people from all five major continents, you can be sure that our nationalities being different will cause no awkwardness! I would love to hear about your culture and I can talk readily about mine! And if you'd rather not talk about cultural things - no problem! I have a wide range of interests and am a 'jack of all trades' (okay, maybe 'many' and not 'all', haha! :-D) so we will always have things to talk about! Wondering what exactly I can teach you as concerns English and German respectively? Below are some details:

ENGLISH - I can help you with general difficulties, teach you the basics and help you grasp the higher literary aspects of the English language. We can work on pronunciation, sentence structure, using verbs and tenses correctly, formal language, informal expressions and the like in separate, dedicated lessons too, if you like. We can just chat freely, or we can have more structured lessons. We can focus on spoken English, or on written English - or both! I can also help you to develop the language skills relevant to a given area of use, e.g retail, hospitality, tourism or business.

GERMAN - I can teach you the basics of pronunciation, grammar, sentence structure etc.. I can offer guidance on both written and spoken German up to and including the B1 level. I can also help you with general difficulties that you may be having with the language.

If I sound like I could be the right person to help you with either of these two languages, please check my lessons and pick whichever fits you best! We can always customise the lesson to fit your needs perfectly as we get to know each other better :-)

I offer a 15 - 30 minute written test in order that I may understand your level of proficiency, but you don't have to take it if you don't want to.

I would be delighted to work with you, slowly helping you to speak and write in English or German so well that you begin to sound even better than I do! How wonderful it is when the student excels the teacher! Let that be our lofty goal, and let us both work diligently towards it! :-)
