Say Korean Tutor Profile

Hello, I’m tutor Say (세이쌤).

After graduating from a university in Osaka, Japan, I worked and lived there as well.
Because of this, I can communicate comfortably in Japanese, and I can handle simple daily conversations in English.

I’ve personally experienced the frustration of living abroad when language barriers made communication difficult, and those moments when I wanted to speak but couldn’t find the right words. Having learned another language myself, I understand the learner’s perspective, so I am able to tailor my lessons accordingly.

Ever been confused because the same Korean expression can mean different things depending on the situation?
For example, “시원하다 (siwon-hada)” means “cool” when describing the weather, but it can also mean “refreshing” when eating a hot soup dish. While textbooks rarely cover these slightly differing nuances, I’ll gently teach you these expressions and situations that Koreans frequently use in real life, complete with examples. I’ll also clearly explain expressions commonly used by actual Koreans that differ from textbook language.

My lessons focus on conversational practice in Korean rather than rigid lessons centered on textbooks or grammar explanations.
We can freely discuss topics based on what you want to talk about or your interests, or chat based on prepared themes.
Expressions and sentences used during the lesson will be organized and provided as feedback after each session.

Recommended for the following learners :)
  • Beginners just starting their learning journey in Korean
  • Learners who find speaking Korean difficult because they are scared of making mistakes
  • Learners who want to study Korean while listening to explanations in Japanese
  • Learners who want to learn confusing Korean terms and practical everyday Korean skills
  • Learners who have studied Korean before, but want to focus on conversation practice

It’s okay if your Korean isn’t perfect yet.
It’s okay to make mistakes.
Let’s learn together while chatting in a comfortable atmosphere.

I’ll be looking forward to the day we can speak Korean together in class!
