Hello! I'm Gerrard, and I specialize in helping complete beginners take their very first steps into the world of chess.
I know how overwhelming chess can seem at first because I have experienced the challenges of learning the game myself. My goal is to make learning simple, enjoyable, and stress-free so you can build confidence from your very first lesson.
My lessons are designed for children, teens, and adults who are completely new to chess or are still learning the basics. Together we'll learn topics such as:

- How each piece moves and the value of each piece
- Basic chess rules and checkmate
- Simple tactics and pattern recognition
- Playing practice games and reviewing mistakes
I have experience teaching chess to friends, especially helping beginners understand the basics and improve their confidence. My lessons include teaching with prepared materials, screen sharing for explanations, and practice games on Chess.com so students can apply what they learn in real situations. I intend to use Zoom to conduct my lessons.
I adapt every lesson to each student's pace and learning style. Whether you're learning chess as a hobby, for personal growth, or simply for fun, I'd be happy to help you begin your chess journey!
