Also, I was so surprised to see perfomances from other countries, leading with.. JAPAN!

I guess I must be living under a rock, because I had no idea Japan was so closely involved in establishing this museum. I have read about partnerships related to ancient Egypt research before, but I didn’t realize the connection was this deep.

Not ony did the opening performance come from Tokyo, but President El-Sisi singled out Japan in his speech because of its role and support in the project.


I don't know why but this made me so happy. I kept thinking how my Japanese students in the Ancient Egypt course would probably feel proud and excited watching this too. :))
