In this course, you’ll learn the practical, adaptable skills of qualitative research, from design to data collection to analysis. These skills are essential in the social sciences, but they’re also highly valued in education, business, public health, NGOs, and community development.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Choose the right qualitative approach for your goals—ethnography, case study, interviews, focus groups, or observation.

  • Collect high-quality data that reveals how people think, act, and make decisions.

  • Use theory and frameworks to guide your analysis and recommendations.

  • Present your findings clearly and persuasively for different audiences.

Your mentor:

Ph.D. in Anthropology, M.A. from Yale University, Director of the Isla Mujeres Ethnographic Field School. I’ve trained nearly 100 researchers and advised students and professionals around the world on projects that make an impact.

This 50-minute session can be booked as:

  • A one-time consultation to address specific questions or challenges

  • Part of a long-term mentorship, where I serve as your academic guide, helping you stay on track and meet your educational goals

My approach is practical, adaptable, and student-focused, tailored to your subject area—whether you’re in social sciences, humanities, cultural studies, or interdisciplinary research. I specialize in qualitative research, ethnographic methods, and academic mentoring for projects ranging from high school assignments to university theses. Over multiple sessions, I can help you design, execute, and refine your research, providing continuous feedback so you gain both academic skills and confidence.

 

I hold a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology, an M.A. from Yale University, and have trained nearly 100 researchers in the field. I’ve advised IB Extended Essay students, university undergraduates, graduate students, and professionals in understanding human behavior, culture, and cross-cultural communication.

  • 30+ years’ experience teaching and mentoring at high school, university, and professional levels.

  • Expertise in medical anthropology, social theory, qualitative analysis, and research design.

  • Published author in peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes; invited speaker at universities and professional conferences worldwide.
