1. Warm-Up (5 minutes)
Activity: Discuss the student’s travel experiences or dream destinations (e.g., “Have you traveled abroad?” or “Where do you want to go?”). Use TPR by mimicking packing a suitcase or boarding a plane to set a fun tone.
Prop: Show a toy plane or a travel-themed picture (e.g., a suitcase or passport).
Goal: Build rapport and assess the student’s comfort level with travel-related English.
2. Travel Vocabulary and Phrases (10 minutes)
Activity: Introduce key travel phrases (e.g., “Where is the check-in counter?” “Can you help me with my luggage?”). Provide a digital handout with 8–10 phrases. Use TPR to act out scenarios (e.g., pointing to an imaginary counter).
Goal: Familiarize students with practical vocabulary for travel situations.
3. Role-Play Scenarios (15 minutes)
Activity: Simulate travel situations, such as checking in at an airport or asking for directions at a hotel. The student practices phrases, with you playing the role of an airport staff or hotel clerk. Correct pronunciation and grammar gently via Zoom/Skype chat.
Prop: Use a prop like a mock boarding pass or hotel key card (digital or physical).
Goal: Build fluency and confidence in real-world travel scenarios.
4. Conversation Practice (15 minutes)
Activity: Engage in a guided conversation about a travel itinerary (e.g., planning a trip to a city). Encourage the student to use new phrases and ask questions (e.g., “What time is my flight?”). Use TPR to mimic activities like sightseeing or taking photos.
Goal: Develop spontaneous speaking skills in a travel context.
5. Wrap-Up and Feedback (5 minutes)
Activity: Review key phrases, assign a homework task (e.g., write a short travel dialogue), and provide a feedback sheet via Cafetalk’s dashboard with tips for improvement. Encourage booking follow-up lessons to practice more scenarios.
