Why we should embrace aging as an adventure
Description
This lesson aims to challenge conventional, negative assumptions about aging (ageism, “youth = best,” “decline inevitable”). Help students reframe aging as a journey of opportunity, growth, contribution and possibility rather than decline. Encourage a positive, proactive mindset: to “own your age,” stay curious, keep learning, remain socially and intellectually active.
This lesson will help students develop listening comprehension and vocabulary through the TED talk. Expand vocabulary, especially advanced/abstract terms and idiomatic phrases. Practice speaking and critical thinking by discussing beliefs, stereotypes, and cultural assumptions.
