By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

  • Identify the structure of the IELTS Speaking and Listening sections.

  • Practice answering common IELTS Speaking Part 1 and Part 2 questions.

  • Improve listening for detail and gist using IELTS-style audio.

  • Use strategies such as paraphrasing, giving examples, and expanding answers.

IELTS Speaking Practice – Part 1 (6 minutes)

Ask sample questions:

  • What's your favorite hobby?

  • Do you prefer mornings or evenings? Why?

  • Do you enjoy reading? Why or why not?


IELTS Speaking Practice – Part 2 (6 minutes)

Students must speak for 1–2 minutes on a given topic after 1 minute of preparation.

Sample Task Card:

Describe a place you like to visit.
You should say:
– where it is
– what you do there
– who you go with
– and explain why you like it

Give 1 minute to prepare.
Then 1 student (or volunteer) speaks for 1 minute.

Feedback: After the talk, give quick comments:

  • Did they organize their ideas?

  • Did they speak fluently?

IELTS Listening Practice – Part 1 (6 minutes)

Activity: Short audio (from IELTS practice materials) or read a short scripted dialogue.

Example Topic: Booking a taxi, registering for a course.

Task: Answer 5 basic form-filling questions (e.g., name, phone number, date, time).
