Can you ask questions with “jǐ (几)”?

很多初学者学会了“什么 / 谁 / 哪儿”，但一到问数量、年龄、时间、日期就卡住了。其实只要记住一个字——“几”，你就能马上开口提问！
Many beginners can use “what / who / where”, but get stuck when asking quantity, age, time, and dates. Just remember one character—几 (jǐ)—and you can start asking naturally.

✅ Key idea / 核心用法：几 is used to ask “how many / how old / what time / what date”, usually for small numbers (often under 10).
1）“几 + 量词/名词”：问数量 “jǐ + measure word/noun” = How many…? 当你想问“有多少？”“买几个？”就用：几 + 量词（比如：个、本、杯…）

Use 几 + measure word (like 个, 本, 杯) to ask “how many”.
HSK1例句 Examples: 你有几个朋友？ How many friends do you have? 我有三个朋友。 I have three friends.

你家有几口人？ How many people are in your family? 我家有三口人。 There are three people in my family.

你要几个苹果？ How many apples do you want? 我要两个苹果。 I want two apples.

?? Tip / 小提醒： Asking price is usually 多少 (duōshao), not 几. “How much is it?” = 多少钱 / 多少

2）“几岁”：问年龄 “jǐ suì (几岁)” = How old…? 例句 Examples: 你几岁？ How old are you? 我二十岁。 I’m 20 years old. 他几岁？ How old is he? 他八岁。 He’s 8.

3）“几点”：问时间（钟点） “jǐ diǎn (几点)” = What time…? 例句 Examples: 现在几点？ What time is it now? 现在八点。 It’s 8 o’clock. 你几点上课？ What time do you have class? 我九点上课。 I have class at 9. 你几点回家？ What time do you go home? 我六点回家。 I go home at 6.

4）“几号 / 几月”：问日期 “jǐ hào / jǐ yuè” = What date / which month? 例句 Examples: 今天几号？ What’s the date today? 今天三号。 It’s the 3rd. 你生日几月几号？ When is your birthday? (Which month and date?) 我生日八月二十号。 My birthday is August 20th.
