Quick tips: taking a day off

Did you decide to take a day off? Or maybe it’s a national holiday in your country! Here are a few ways to tell someone that you have the day off.


You can use the following in any circumstance:


I’m off (day).

Ex. I’m off today.

Ex. I’m off next Monday.

Ex. I was off last Monday.


I have (day) off.

Ex. I have today off.

Ex. I have next Monday off.

Ex. I had last Monday off.


You can use the following only if you requested a day off:


I’m taking (day) off.

Ex. I’m taking today off.

Ex. I took today off.

Ex. I’m taking next Monday off.

Ex. I took last Monday off.


I’m taking a day off (day).

Ex. I’m taking a day off today.

Ex. I took a day off today.

Ex. I’m taking a day off next Monday.

Ex. I took a day off last Monday.
