昨日2月6日から、ミラノ・コルティナ冬期オリンピックが始まりました。
日本や世界の選手の活躍を見るのが楽しみです。
そして本日2月7日は、1998年に日本の長野県で冬季オリンピックの開会式が行われた日です。
長野冬季オリンピックには、72の国と地域から選手が参加しました。
スキージャンプ男子団体では、日本が金メダルを獲得し、日本中が歓喜に沸きました。
その前の1994年リレハンメル冬季オリンピックでは、金メダル確実の位置にありながら
銀メダルに終わり、長野で雪辱を果たした形となりました。
日本中が盛り上がっていたことを覚えています。
長野県は東京から250kmほど、新幹線なら1時間半ほどで行くことができますが
3000mを超える山々が連なる山岳県です。
登山やハイキング、冬はスキーなどのウインタースポーツできる場所として人気があります。
自然が好きな方は、旅の目的地に加えてみてはいかがでしょうか。
ミラノと日本の時差は8時間。
寝不足を覚悟して、オリンピックの選手たちを応援したいと思います。

The Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics began yesterday, February 6th.
I'm looking forward to seeing athletes from Japan and around the world perform in action.
Today, February 7th, marks the day the opening ceremony of the 1998 Winter Olympics took place in Nagano Prefecture, Japan.
Athletes from 72 countries and regions participated in the Nagano Winter Olympics.
In the men's ski jumping team event, Japan won the gold medal, sending cheers of joy through the nation.
At the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics, Japan was in a strong position to win the gold medal, but ended up with the silver medal.
They were finally able to get their revenge in Nagano.
I remember the excitement throughout Japan.
Nagano Prefecture is about 250km from Tokyo, about an hour and a half by Shinkansen.
It's a mountainous prefecture with a series of mountains over 3,000m high.
Nagano is a popular destination for mountain climbing, hiking, and winter sports like skiing.
If you love nature, why not add it to your travel plans?
The time difference between Milan and Japan is eight hours.
I'm prepared to lose sleep as I cheer on the Olympic athletes.
