Online classes can be intimidating if you are used to an in-person experience. Prior to the pandemic, most of us worked and studied in in offices and schools. Today, we can live anywhere and work and study anywhere. However, we may be unsure of how to interact on line. Here are a few tips which may help. The last one involves FUN!
Helpful tips for gaining confidence in online classes:
1.) Imagine that you are in the same room as your teacher and that you are sharing a lesson tailored especially for you. Your Cafetalk teacher should be friendly and welcoming!
2.) Imagine that your old-fashioned blackboard (or whiteboard) has been replaced by an on-line tool like a PowerPoint slide. As you watch your teacher "write" upon the "board," you'll notice that it is not too different.
3.) Get comfortable making adjustments on your computer such as changing the volume and turning the microphone and camera on and off.
4.) Have FUN setting up your online environment. You may wish to take lessons from a special corner of your home which will become your "classroom." You may enjoy using an existing background or creating your own from a special photograph. Whatever you do, be sure to have fun as you set up your place of study!
The virtual environment and its technical tools do not have to be intimidating. Your friendly Cafetalk teacher is sure to welcome and guide you while lending an in-person feeling to the virtual space. Once you are familiar with the basics and have established an inviting study space at home, you'll learn to love studying on line.
