My inspiration for teaching - is this a joke?

Weekly Topic: What inspired me to begin teaching

Tim Ar.

Hello dearest students,

Please find below a two part piece on the issues which inspired me to become an English teacher. One is serious and one is joke. Can you guess which is which?

Background
I am a qualified and experienced English language teacher from Australia. I have a Diploma in TEFL from the University of London. I have been teaching English for over 20 years across the world including Australia, France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, India, China and Japan. I'm looking for new students. Book me for a good time!

Part 1

English teaching is my calling. I love it and that's why I do it. I enjoy meeting new people. I love helping them learn and meet their own goals. The conversations are interesting and feed my soul. There is not minute that I don't love working with new people and learning with them. That's why I am a teacher.

Part 2

I became an English teacher out of boredom, desperation and a generalised anxiety about money and my future. I borrowed money from a few friends to enrol in my teaching course. I then ran away overseas to teach and avoid the need to repay my friends. Teaching is poorly paid and can be psychologically hazardous - you are sometimes insulted by your employer or your client and that is not fun .. but I have to pay my rent somehow. Currently, my only option is to be a teacher. It's either that or back to pan handling.

Cheers.

Tim.
