Today, let me introduce some popular Japanese slang words used by Gen Z in 2025. These words often pop up in conversations on TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram—and once you learn them, you'll probably want to try them yourself!

① 〇〇 shika katan

Meaning: "This is the best!" / "Nothing beats this!"
Example: "Matcha ice cream shika katan!"
▶This phrase is from oshi culture (idol fandom) and strongly expresses what you love the most.

② Yūshō (優勝)

Meaning: "This is amazing!" / "Top-tier!"
Example: "This café’s interior is yūshō-level!"
▶Originally meant “victory,” now it’s used to praise something or someone as the best.

③ Sorena (それな)

Meaning: "Exactly!" / "So true!"
Example: "I have to work tomorrow..." "Sorena~"
▶Perfect for showing agreement or empathy—very casual and natural.

④ Azamaru Suisan (あざまる水産)

Meaning: A playful way to say “thanks”
Example: "Thanks for helping—azamaru Suisan~!"
▶A fun and cute twist on "arigatou," often used in a joking way among friends.

⑤ Egui (えぐい)

Meaning: "Insane!" / "Crazy good/bad!" / "So intense!"
Example: "That video was seriously egui!"
▶Very expressive and flexible—you can use it for both positive and negative surprises.

These slang words help you connect with native speakers, especially young people.

相手の意見に完全に同意したいときに使う表現。
